The most basic preservation of a structure is a weather-tight roof, making the roof the most challenging element to your home. This was one of our more challenging roofs, complete with 4 layers of roofing (one of them wood shakes), adding a layer of plywood over the purlin strips, and structurally modifying a dead valley. This roof is located in the oldest neighborhood of Montgomery, Alabama, Cottage Hill. The only neighborhood in Montgomery that has more cats than minivans, Cottage Hill Montgomery is home to a variety of eclectic Victorian and Craftsman style homes.
